In Scandinavia (especillly Denmark), we have been VERY restrictive in using broard spectrum antibiotics for almost 50 years. We virtuelly never experience serious problems. If we told our microbiologists that we use amphotericineB, vancomycin, ceftazidime they'll flip! MRSA i allmost unknown to us. First line antiobiotics: Amp and Genta. If > 5 days old: add dicloxacillin. We rely on short term ventilator periods (INSURE), nasal cpap, short time umbillical catheters, short time long lines and enteral feeding from day one (even in < 500g's)
